  10. MOONCLOCK produces a continually updating, real-time graphical
  11. representation on the visual aspect of the moon.  The lunar aspect
  12. may be computed geocentrically, or topocentrically, for the
  13. current epoch, or for any time and date.
  14.  
  15. MOONCLOCK will run on any Macintosh computer, or other platform 
  16. running the Macintosh Operating System, or Macintosh Application
  17.  Environment.  A native PowerPC version of MOONCLOCK, called 
  18. MOONCLOCK PPC is available.  To start MOONCLOCK just double click 
  19. on the MOONCLOCK icon.

  21. The dynamic MOONCLOCK graphic depicts how the moon would appear
  22. to the observer.  The light and dark shaded portions of the lunar
  23. graphic represent the regions of lunar day and night.  The direction
  24. from the Moon's center to celestial north is also indicated.  To the
  25. tight of the lunar graphic the following information is presented:
  26.  
  27.   * The lunar elongation angle (measured eastward from the sun)
  28.   * The position angle of the bright limb (measured eastward from
  29.      celestial North to the mid-point of the bright limb)
  30.   * The percentage of the lunar surface illuminated by sunlight
  31.   * The current (or selected) Universal Time and Date
  32.   * The geographic longitude at which the sidereal time is 0 hours
  33.   * The observer's sidereal time
  34.  
  35. An instantaneous lunar ephemeris is presented in the bottom of the
  36. MOONCLOCK window.  The header for the ephemeris indicates
  37. whether positional computations were performed geocentrically or
  38. topocentrically, and the epoch of the ephemeris as both Julian and
  39. Gregorian dates.

  41. The lunar Right Ascension, Declination, Heliocentric Latitude,
  42. Heliocentric Longitude, apparent angular Equatorial Radius, and
  43. Distance from the Earth is displayed.  The equatorial coordinates
  44. of the moon are precessed to the equator and equinox of 2000.0. A.D.
  45. The lunar distance is expressed in Earth radii.  The lunar angular 
  46. radius is expressed in seconds of arc.

  62. accumulated error of less than 15-arc seconds per century from 
  63. 1990.0.  MOONCLOCK was developed using kernel software supplied
  64. with HIPPARCHUS, a fully integrated Macintosh application for
  65. positional and observational astronomy, from sofTouch
  66. APpLications.
